In principle, the engine is bullet proof as is the rest of the car.
The problem with that car is it hasn't been used. Pressing it into daily service may give rise to lots of faults with anything rubber, particularly seals and bushes. I use my 1986 500 SEC every other day, but when I bought it, it had only done 1,000miles in the previous 4 years. In short order had to replace the front suspension bushes, the exhaust, the ancillary drive belts and a few other things. The one you're considering may also need new tyres. Have a look at www.realmb.co.uk as they also have a low miles mint 280 SE.
The 280 will also be quite slow.
Otherwise a lovely car that should last another 25 years yet.
