Personally i cant see there's any substance to it. If true tho it doesn't make Hamilton look particularly good, this is the team that made him what he is.

I'm fairly ambivolent on the whole situation.

I don't think Hamilton and family are the helpful, kind souls they portray, but Mclaren constantly seem to get caught with their hand in the till. Contrary to what most think about Ferrari favouritism, I don't think there's smoke without a fire.

That was my thinking as well. However, would he attract sponsors to Brawn and in effect bring his salary with him ?

Three different sources say LH or Hamilton Snr have asked Max about the situation. Does that seem really weird to anyone else? I wouldn't have thought that Hamilton(s) would be that close to Max or that Max would be much of a shoulder to lean on kinda guy. (And maybe not the most impartial person either)

Daily Mail said:
He has spoken to Max Mosley, the FIA president, more than once in the last few days to discuss the possibility even of Lewis quitting the sport or, at the very least, leaving McLaren.
Times Online said:
Lewis and his father have taken advice from Max Mosley and the story is developing quite quickly.
bbc said:
Hamilton is understood to have sought Mosley's counsel

Does that mean he has to stay there for life then?

Would McLaren keep him on out of loyalty if he wasn't performing on the driving front? I think not, so why should he stick around if they're not performing on the team front?

I can't see him moving happening, but I wouldn't think less of him if he did.

I actually think it'd show some balls and be a move to show he could win races in a different team and a different car. None of the 'greats' won all their titles for one team IIRC.

It also might turn him into a bit less of a robot.

Why does Brawn need Lewis - have you not been watching this year? They have a driver far better than Lewis in Button. The only problem Button has had is poor equipment to show off his true skills.

Now he has the equipment he's untouchable - just look how he pulled out those stunning laps on low fuel to make sure he was ahead of the field after pitstop. A true master behind the wheel.

How do you figure that he is better? Until the Mclarens and Ferraris are at the diffuser cars pace - we will not know who is the best. Schumacher and Barrichelo used to lap cars when in a superior Ferrari so Jensons lap that you have commented on should be expected.

My point would be that why would Lewis leave one of the biggest teams to go to Brawn GP? Because they have the fastest car at the moment?? This is a very short term blinkered view that i would be very suprised if he has even contemplated. The only place he would go if he left Mclaren would be Ferrari.

I think that Ferrari are at Redbull/BMW pace with Mclaren not far behind. Lewis's 4th and 7th finishes have shown what is possible in a poor car and Nakajima and Rosberg have shown what is possible if you have an average driver in a Diffuser car.

I'm not of the opinion tht Jenson is a better driver. It would be good to see them race head-to-head with the same car. I think Lewis would win, but not by much.

Can a driver switch teams mid season, and still keep the points from both teams..?

I know Hamilton only has 1 point at the moment, but 1 point has decided the last 2 years!

Hugely unlikely to happen, mid season.. but you never know.. biggrin

If you were Button.. would you want Hamilton in your team..? I think not!

Button knows he can beat "old man" Barrichello, but would have less chance of being WDC with Lewis in the same team!

Yes. The driver is in the drivers championship irrespective of what team he drives for.

It sounds like the media are trying to milk the F1 season so far and controversy that has come with it.

They can only go on for so long about how Button has made an amazing start.
The other hot topic on everyone's lips? How Hamilton has had a very poor start, he is in the limelight anyway because he lied.

So in my opinion they are prinitng breeze to give people something to talk about and buy their papers for updates.

Besides, I thought Hamilton signed a 5yr contract with Mclaren?
