Stag party Oxford, help required

All depends what your into, do you want old man pubs with good beer, to all sit round a table and get happily pissed in or townie chav filled stella emporiums full of council estate slappers (I ask as its a stag do)?
Oxfords not good for late night curry, most tend to close with the pubs.

Curry: The Aziz on the Cowley road. Was voted one of the best in the country a few years ago and was pretty decent last time I was there a couple of months ago. Happy to cater for a crowd of chaps as well. Chutneys in the town center is supposed to be decent too, but I've not been there.
Beer: Lamb and Flag (free house and usually six or seven different taps on), Head of the river, The Bear, Turf Tavern, Kings Head, Bookbinders The Angel and Hardcourt Tavern, but to name a few. All ale pubs and some will be heavily populated with students in term time or tourists, but all decent in one way or another.

Its my favourite Oxford drinking pub in Winter the ESB is good, gardens not great in the summer though. The Gardeners on Plantation rd is a good one when the suns shining.
To the orignianl Poster then head to Jericho as it has 5 or 6 suitable pubs all very close together. Gardeners North Parade, Gardeners Plantation rd, Harcourt Arms, Jude the Obscure, Bookbinders, it could be a great crawl

I would suggest that you need to go in serious fancy dress and make sure that you are all too drunk to give a f
k what happens next before you even step out of the hotel.Also beware that there are normally a load of tossers playing "pub golf" and you may get ejected along with them.
If I were you i'd get to oxford and then catch a train to london for the night!

Oxford is a dull place for a stag do. Most of the door staff are very unprofessional and have a bad attitude. Certainly not a good club in town. In fact the city centre is full of diabolical, scum filled, sticky carpeted hell holes.
Jericho is fine for a few beers now and then but certainly not a party night. I guess it depends on what you want from your night. It tends to be dead by 2am though.
If you want real ale, The Old Bookbinders Arms in Jericho won a CAMRA award this year. I went down there the other night and it seemed like reasonable place for session drinking.
The boat yard is opposite - maybe you could hire a boat and go there afterwards?

I guess it shows the new PH demographic, in the last 3 years the 5 stag do's i've been on none have involved clubs, strip joints or any chav filled town centre pub. All have include real ale and nice pubs like the OP is looking for all have been great fun.

I guess it shows the new PH demographic.My stag do involved 20 of us hiring two small motor boats in Henley and then going down the river to Marlow, stopping for lunch and a rugby international in barn at the back of The Two Brewers, and then back up to Henley for a night in one of the locals.
I think that what people are getting at is that Oxford is a s
t night out whichever way you look at it.In fact whilst we're here I'd go so far as to say that it's a fairly poor city altogether. It doesn't help that the City Council is seriously anti car either.
