Recommended Estate Agents in Nottingham

Hello all!

I am selling my house in Nottingham and would like a recommendation for an estate agent. I have had my place valued by Haarts and a good talk with one of their agents. They seem great but before I sign anything or pay any fees I thought it would be wise to shop around. I would greatly value any recommendations that you might have.

royston-lund are good, but they do not cover emma's part of town unfortunately

Haart are good, WH Brown worth a look, and then choose a local indy... two would be best, corporate against indy and see how it goes. fees? aim 1% ish for sole and 1.5% multi, any less and the negs aren't incentivised for non unique properties ie there's likely to be others in the street available and if they're paying a higher fee.... well - it's only human nature and I have experienced it first hand as such

perhaps I might be able to have a word in with Haart for you Emma re fees etc, i'm friendly with the mortgage broker there

Emma, read the cancellation print to see if you have to pay any penalties. I was with Haarts some years ago and in the first instance they did advertise the property in the Echo with a photograph (as they said they would) but after that they did nothing so I cancelled them and sold the house to a friend of mine. i wasn't very impressed with them but it was 9 years ago. It pays to keep all options open.

Hi. My experience is that Haarts value on the cheap side, which means they can try to churn quickly, but not necessarily achieve the best price. Frank Innes value high to get you to sign on, offer no viewings and then tell you it's your fault they over valued it and tell you to drop the price (avoid them - they're shocking). Halifax seemed ok, but in the end I decided to market myself. Cost about £30 on wood and spray paint and another £20 for a basic website. This saved me thousands and I got quite a bit more in the end than their average valuation. If there's others on your street fore sale, it's even easier, as you should get plenty of drive by people and you can be slightly less expensive as you're saving on fees. Good luck.

Haarts ok nice but they have a tendency to do a fairly useless advert.

John German were absolutely useless when my better half put hers on the market last year.

Royston Lund were ok.

To be blunt they were all fairly feeble compared to my previous experiences of estate agents none were hungry or even particularly bothered about working to get a sale. Times may mean they now do work for a sale but (based on w.bridgeford) they didn't used to!

I was going to sign with Haarts today but was advised by a solicitor friend to shop around. My gut instinct says go with them and the agent is a rather charming young man. I am dealing with Chris at the Upper Parliament Street branch. I've spoken with James the financial advisor who works out of their office.

Thanks for that advice. I told them that they were under pricing and told them that I wanted them to up the price £5K. They do seem keen to market low and sell quicky. I dare say in this current climate they will have to work a lot harder.

I'm moving to London in ten days and have no opportunity really to market the property or show potential buyers around. I only received five weeks notice of my new job starting otherwise I'd have got on it quicker.

just sold my house in bridgford through halifax, seem very good and easy to deal with, Royston seem decent, john german are ok as well, haart just seemed horrible imo, very much a case of a 2nd hand car dealer attitude and didnt really seem to know the market as well as i did regarding price, they apparently underprice everything as well according to the other dealers i spoke to.

Thanks for the advice. Haarts undervalued my property by a significant margin. I've gone with Bairstow Eves. Haarts guy in London is getting a constant arse kicking off me as I seem to be doing all the finding and chasing. Definitely geezer-type salesmen.
