I wonder what George Dubya's visit this week will do the the Capital's crime figures? With 5,000 of the Met's finest 'protecting' him that's 5,000 fewer 'on the beat' or investigating crime ... isn't it?

Oh, and can someone tell me what use his 15 sniffer dogs will be ... locked up in kennels for six months? And before anyone says they're covered under PETS, the dogs are not (normally) resident in the UK and they're not travelling from Washington DC by Virgin Atlantic Airways (AFAIK) ... so they fall outside that scheme on two counts. Perhaps they're classified as 'racehorses'.

I'd have thought that crime in the vicinity of the West End will be down - I doubt you could fart without being arrested this week.

Crime in Outer London will rocket!

Heard on the news this morning that he's bringing a hundred armed CIA officers with him for personal protection, yet if they use their firearms over here they'll be dealt with by the criminal justice system like any other person. How the hell is that going to work then? I guess cost is the barrier against using our own resources, but whats the point if they can'd do anything...?

Could be classified as discharge of a biological weapon

I don't think they will be bothered about shooting people unlawfully. Their boss has got away it !!

...and to make it even worse he (or rather his staff) issued demands to Buckingham Palace that they undertake some major structural reworking of the building (or at least the parts that he'll be staying in) to make sure he'll survive if someone flies a plane into the building.....

(Just waiting for them to close all the roads in London....)

But the problem is/will be caused by all those Guardian-readers and benefit fraudsters waving their little banners...

Streaky, I seriously doubt whether the met has a total of 5,000 police at this time. However, as for Bush, he should not be allowed entry to this country, ever!

Indeed - Ken's latest attempt is the "Western Traffic & Environment Zone" which is an area to the west to the City (around Fleet Street) in which traffic flows nice and smoothly and is never too gridlocked. He is introducing a scheme to close half the roads to traffic, and make the other half one way.

The upshot of which, in an attempt to reduce traffic, he now makes me drive all four sides to a square to get into my office, instead of the usual quick left turn. Really smart idea there Ken *duh*

Over 25,000 in 1991, I doubt it's substantially fewer today - Streaky

And we should send President Tony over to live with him too (I'm sure there's a nice warm kennel at the WH.

Pity "Safety cameras" can't be employed instead to earn a few dollars more........ .....you know, "American tourist, sir? Your congestion charge fee will be $1bn.......per day!"

Those CIA officers are just normal people when they're here, aren't they? So they should be locked up for carrying illegal firearms. But perhaps Tony will make an exception for his owner's employees.

Blimey, what's this - Socialist Weekly? I feel sorry for all the naive people who voted for Tony becasue they bought his story, and now hate him because he did something they don't like. What really p*isses then off, though, is that the only competition is the Concervatives, who they hate as well.

As for living under Bush or Hussein, which would you choose?

Well, at least SH had the b4lls to shoot dissenters/malcontents/etc himself, rather than just arrange for them to be found in Foggy Bottom allegedly having committed suicide - Streaky

That's a fairly obvious question. The point is though, no-one was asked what they wanted. And I didn't vote for Tony or the Tories.

The Mets establishment is just over 29,000 as of last month.
However...at least 18,000 must have less than 5 years service, a fair percentage are shiney ar*es and sadly that does not leave a lot of experience for the streets.

Since i joined in 1984, 23,000 people have joined and that gives you the size of the problem.
