Morning folks,

Heading down to Ashbourne next week for a week break, heading down from Scotland. Rather than the usual M6 slog then cutting across, are there any particular roads that would make the journey a bit more interesting??

Cheers...

hello,
if you have six hours and 300 miles to spare, try:
Edinburgh to corbridge via stow (A7 & A 68)
then A69 to haydon bridge.
... off the 69 to alston top then down to penrith on the A686.
Take the old A6 down to kirby lonsdale (coffee from the caravan at devil's bridge).
Take the A65 down to bradford and cross the M62 heading to huddersfield and holmfirth (the boring bit).
You may go over holme moss on the A6024 or carry on toward barnsley and take in more of the challenging A628.
Turn left from the A628 & across the dam and head to glossop on the B6105.
A624 to chapel en le frith and then a short hop back up the old A6 to whaley bridge.
Take the A5004 down to buxton and then the A515 will complete your journey.

there are also many smaller adventures and detours "off piste" but it's not worth listing if the above aint for you, so to speak.

beer d

ooops, nearly forgot .... watch out for caravans !

ha ha ! ... they're banned over here !!!

This is a nice run out. I do these roads regularly on the bike.
But just a word of caution, have a look here frown

It maybe mainly aimed at Bikers but they'd not miss an oppertunity to collect a bit more cash.

Thanks for the information folks, will use it to plot a route tonight.

Cheers for the heads up about the enforcement, although it aimed at bikers, I'll still be keeping an eye open!!
