The Pie and Piston and clicking back

Ok,

I am not the most IT literate person in the world (or even my house, and I include the dogs in that) BUT when I click on a P&P sub section (such as the Lounge) then if I want to go back I have to go back to General Gassing then scroll back down to the Pie and Piston area?

Can it not be set to go back to the Pie and Piston etc? Or am I making life more difficult for myself and missing something simple?

As all the techie people on here busy are fighting a battle I thought I'd try to help.

Please explain what is happening in more detail.

Are you using your browser back button or the links in PH?

What browser are you using?

BTW Browser is the thing/program that you are viewing the internet with ie. Internet Explorer, FireFox, Opera etc.

If you click 'back' on the browser, instead of General gassing main page, it takes you to the part of the page you were viewing (down the bottom near Lounge), I think.
Or have I misunderstood

Thats why I asked the OP to give us more details!

We can help, even us that are not as techie as RP or Will, if we have a good description to go on.

Where I have this

Welcome back Jasandjules. Last visit was Yesterday (09:21)
PistonHeads > Gassing Station > Website Feedback

At the top of the screen now, it would say (instead of Website Feedback) - The Lounge.

So, when I have finished in the lounge and want to check out say TV and Films, I now have to click on Gassing station, then it takes me back to the stop of the main page, then I have to scroll down until it gets to Film and TV... Do you see what I mean?

Before I'd have just clicked on Pie and Piston to get me back to all the threads but now that Pie and Piston has a number of sub menus, the menu system (where we have Lounge, should to me say Pie and Piston then SUB menu The Lounge so that I can click on Pie and Piston and it will lead me to the main Pie and Piston menu).

Does that make sense? It just basically because I have to click back to Gassing station then scroll all the way back down again to get to a sub, sub menu........... I can't use the Back button because I may have looked at 3 or 4 threads in say The Lounge and I'd be there all day to get back to the main menu?!?!

I understand what you mean now and I think you have a fair point.
Those links at the top and bottom of the page are, I think, called or referred to as the breadcrumb trail.

But because P&P is now a section, rather than a forum (if you see what I mean!) it is not clickable so it can't be linked to.

Couple of suggestions:
Have a look at instruction on how to set up favorite forums. This will cut down the number of forums that show on the General Gassing page. After doing this it is easy to view all the forums as there is a link, top right at the top of GG page.

Regarding the browser back button - on 'most' browsers along side the back button there is a drop down option (mine is a little inverted triangle) that lists quite a few previous pages in order.

Yes, sorry I wasn't making myself terribly clear there, but yes, that is the point indeed. It's only a minor irritation but I think one which will be more annoying as time goes on given the P&P Sub Menus now in place.

Setting up favorite forums seems to be the best approach then.
