I am fed up of sitting in traffic in Berkshire.

If one was to want a bit of fun driving where can I head that is quiet and interesting driving.

By choice I would like a long route home from Arborfield (South of M4 below Reading) into Reading (Uni area).

Any suggestions?

We had a great run a few weeks ago to Loomies, the first part was around pangbourne way, then Thacham, Basingstoke. I am sure somone will be along in a min to tell you the real names of the roads but they were pretty damn good.

From Arborfield head south towards Eversley, then when you hit the A30 turn right towards Hartley Witney.
Either turn right in Hartley Witney on to the B3011, or stay on the A30 to Hook and then turn right on to the B3349. Both the 3011 and the 3349 end up near Wellington Country Park.
Then follow the 3349 to Spencers Wood, then turn right to Shinfield, left at the roundabout and over the motorway by the Black Boy pub.

A339 from Basingstoke to Alton is one of my favourites for a quick blat South of Reading. Needs to be fairly quiet though, not much overtaking on half of it.

Good stuff people - can't do maps at work so will have to have a look at home.

I used to live near Salisbury - great driving round there. Pull out of my driveway into a traffic jam here - I usually cycle everywhere in Reading- its quicker!

+1 !! This is my normal route if i'm out for a short blast. Nice roads, and all mostly NSL.

Ben, if you're coming past/near the Black Boy pub then i'd love to take a look at the Tuscan!

Perks of the job - forced moves.

I came from Andover - believe me anything is a step up!

MINIrocket, I go past the BlackBoy Pub everyday....usually cycling though!

I take the TVR at least once a week and try to have a blast on the way home. Never seen you about through - even when I'm cycling.

I'm usually in a Cooper S as I don't take the Chim to work so it's pretty no-descript. Pick up a new black convertible tomorrow which is gonna be ace! I'll keep an eye/ear out for you and give you a wave!

Good road, but be careful of the bikers there, they tend to get knocked off fairly regularly!
