i currently have the wortec focus pack fitted (headers and cat back) on the quiet setting so centre boxes in. Does anyone know if i put the straights in if the exhaust system becomes illegal i.e. over 98 db. Cheers Andy

I think you are likely to be over 98dB in noisy mode. Don't know any law that says above 98 is illegal though.

Wortec system in loud mode is approx 105Db anyway. There is no legal noise limit(only at track days!) It will draw more attention to the BiB though.....

Headers and no silencers is a bit extreme. Ask gasman

It's not extreme!
I ran mine without silencers for over a year, only put silencers in when the s/c was fitted... in case I couldn't hear that!

Performance wise the cat back exhaust alone on the R8 wont make a huge difference, you will need re-map/better intake etc...

Think walkinshaw exhaust is circa 98Db

Thankyou for the reply and the info vxrphantom
I've put a K&N panel filter on and a Walkinshaw zorst to go on next week hopefully
I'm looking at buying one of the CAI kits available in Aus (one that will hopefully keep it as OE looking as poss)
How much am I looking at to remap please? when i'm ready to go. I also dont want to go too OTT on the bhp.
I'm also happy to pick up cast off parts as and when stuff pops up for sale (I guess this stuff will usually appear at dealer part chop time)

Who knows how long that will continue, there is a working group starting studies this year on noise reduction ideas with the thought that if racers are seen to be doing something themselves pro-actively then it will appease the council and local residents. Not sure how this would work for FIA events where Pro-series cars are running, I guess maybe they will try to self-impose noise limits at RWYB events and suchlike as they make up the majority of dates through the year and there are only 2 FIA weekends.
