Hi all,

so the Jag has to go (lost the job and have to save money).
Just wondering what you all think I should put it up for ?

1997 (R) XK8. 41,000. Silver on 17" Revolvers. 4 new (NEW) Pirellis.
Full Black Nappa leather interior. Memory seats, electrochromatic mirrors.
All the other usual toys. Small dent in front wing, needs an ABS ECU otherwise immaculate.
FSH and even has the original umberella that came with it !
Has the original nikasil engine linings as in it's first ten years it only covered 11k to and
from the golf club. I knew the original owner who had it new and it just went to and from the golf
club on Sundays. Never been smoked in, had kids / dogs in.

Breaking my heart to do this and not looking forward to what will replace it but have to make some savings !

Best wishes
Tony

Lovely low mileage there - £12995?

It'll shift much faster if you get the dent pushed out and change the ECU - you'll make your money back on the repairs too I expect. Even with those fixed you're still looking at £8k in a private sale I'd say.

The Nikasil, dent and Ecu will scare people unfortunately.Even with low mileage, prospective buyers are going to wonder if it's been mainatined properly if those things are left.A guess would be 6.5k as is, or 8K tops with the little issues sorted out.

Like the first answer most : )
Then the next : |
Then the next : (

So someone make me an offer !
It's in Central Birmingham and really looking for a quick sale to a new owner who will love, look after and enjoy it as I have.
I know the advice about doing the mends is right but I just don't have the cash.
Someone is going to get a serious bargain - and a cool number plate - and 11 months MOT.

OK - up it goes onto the classifieds for "offers" and see what happens !
Going to try to attach pictures for those who might be tempted... email tony@heagren.com for offers !!!

Best wishes
Tony

Sorry to break the news but I am registered with BCA Auctions and looked up the price. Trade is around £4,000 and retail not a lot better. Afraid it is the current state of the market sadly.

Have to agree, it's an early 8, not even an R

I have a friend who recently sold a 97 XK8 which had had the Nikasil problem but then got a new engine courtesy of Jag and had only done about 6,000 on it. He really struggled.

If it is as good as it sounds and looks, and the minor issues are all that are wrong, it is a really lovely car - I don't think the various changes they made over the years improved on the original styling. If it were me I would polish it to within an inch of it's life, refurbish and store the Revolvers and put it on a set of BBS Montreals - like the ones on the XKR100. It would look really fantastic.(I would guess it is a real opportunity for someone. (checks Bank Account and groans)

I would say keep it if you can, failing that I would have thought you are looking a lot nearer £5000 than £10000.
