Does anyone know if the clutch pressure plate, bering, etc... is the same in the C5 (1988) as the Renault (1989) box? I have not had time to pull my gear box to look, but I have found clutch kit on the net way way cheaper than the invidual parts offered by Lotus (Lotus Atlanta reported that they no longer have a kit). Anyway, the kit I located list the same kit for both 1988 and 1989 Esprit (?).

Tech info on offered clutch is as follows:
diaphram type, 9 1/2 od X 15/16 spline X 21 teeth

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Give JAE or RD a call, they both have less expensive clutch parts than LUSA. I have to lean towards JAE when it comes to price.

Cameron,

I think you're asking if the clutch and associated gear for the Citroen C-35 box and the Renault box are interchangeable.

Unfortunately, they are not. Different input shaft and crank flanges, different pilot bearings, different splines on the friction plate, different pressure plate. Nothing would be interchangeable.

However, you could modify the existing C-35 arrangement to accept the Renault parts. But, since this would involve machining the Crank and the Input Shaft, it's probably cheaper as well as much more expedient to merely buy and use the 'correct' parts. Happy Motoring!... Jim'85TE

I did not think these were the same... I'll call the above recomended supply houses. I'll also call and find out the source of the parts listed by autoparts.com...

Thanks again for the info!
