Hamish, fantastic numbers! Dave text me yesterday as it hit 580 and I immediately decided where my next few paychecks are going. Does this mean you might make it to Cadwell on the 20th? Would love to have a chat about your setup so I can start making my own evil plans! And possibly a ride to see what I'm missing?? boxedin

Excellent! I was trying to persuade Dave last week, nice to know he's coming now! I'm going up on the Friday as I'm working on the Tuscan Challenge race on the Saturday, then I'll be staying in The Priory Hotel in Louth on Sat and Sunday nights so would be up for beers in Louth if you fancy it? Just got myself some R888's so can't wait to give them a try around the track! Ordered a roll bar and harnesses as well but not going to have them by Cadwell frown

The key question is what boost are you running?

Not enough to make those numbers! hehe but was funny watching PH'r V8 Animal's reaction when he saw the figure come up on the screen. cool Hi ya V8 Animal wavey
I want to put it on Dulford's r/r in the next week or two to compare numbers before I let on what it really does, but don't worry your crown is safe bow...for now wink

Hi Nigel, yes I'm always tinkering with the Emerald! I shouldn't think that cold idling would be very hard to fix though, after a little playing with the variables it comes quite easily. I'd either have a go yourself, or drop it into a mapper overnight so they can do it from cold in the morning, or come to Cadwell park next weekend for the Tuscan Racing and I'll have a look at it for you!

There are plenty of more advanced ECUs available than the Emerald but for an RV8, the Emerald does a very good job and should have no reason to cause any problems unless its not mapped properly. Mark Adams is rather picky with his ECUs though I've heard!

Because of your car mine ran out of time and i had to take the trusty 1.4 clio home thanks.biglaugh
To be fair the session bought up injector problems so they took them out to clean them.
Returned next day mark late yet again in the end car produced 227BHP for a std 4.0L not to shabby.
Looks like i have the early signs of cam wear.frown
Nice meeting you.

What kind of fuel consumption do you get with that much power?

It's truly impressive and I'm sure many of us are suddenly feeling 'inadequate'.

I was talking to SHpub at Rockingham. The consumption had got much worse by supercharging a RV8.

Has this aspect been solved yet? The MPG by transplanting an LS engine was much better at that time.

Nobody expects to run one on the cheap. But range and weight are issues.

On the road, constant fuel stops are a time wasting chore.

On the track, better MPG equals less fuel carried and results in a lighter car. If two cars are otherwise equal, but one can run lighter, it has an edge.

Depends on how you drive! And also it depends on the type of charger... Shpub runs an old school style blower which runs a constant boost all the time. The SC-Power kits use centrifugal blowers which only make full boost at high revs, so on normal cruise, the fuel consumption isn't much different to standard.

In fact on the Emerald, I can get around 300 miles from a tank even with the supercharger, though this depends entirely on how you drive it. Of course if you floor it, it sucks it up a fair bit quicker, but then it would if you're going that much faster!

Is that correct? I thought Steve had a centrifugal installation?

It's a centrifugal system. I am also running about 125 bhp above the SC solution and hopefully it will be more when we've worked out how to stop the charge cooler seams from leaking with the new boost levels I'm running/hope to. This is why the fuel consumption is less than ideal.

BTW the LS Cerb does return 30 mpg if I don't cane it.
