Origin b2 problem
Discussion
It might depend where you put your detector. If in the recommended place (up by the rear view mirror) there is a good chance that a tight beam from a laser will not trigger as they are (allegedly) usually aimed at the numberplate.
Anyway, if you are targetted, it will be too late to do anything (0.3s capture time I believe) - Streaky

Sorry I didn't make myself clear.
The TV remote does activate the sensor.....but only when the sensor is plugged into the laser diffuser socket. It doesn't work when the sensor is plugged into the correct laser socket.
That means I can't add the optional diffuser later.
Anybody else had this problem??

Whilst on the sunject of Origin B2s - I had mine installed yesterday.
Have noticed that the speed shown on the B2 is about 5 mph less than the Jag speedo.
Which, if either, is correct?
I don't suppose that it matters much as so long as you get the alerts, you can tweak your speed accordingly..

Had the same 'problem' with my b2.
Plug it into the diffuser socket and it can be triggered by a remote control (and many other light sources such as sunlight, which can be very irritating).
Plug it into the laser detector socket and nothing...until this weekend when it got hit by a genuine laser signal and it went nuts.

Davel said:The B2 is likely to be more accurate than the Jag. Most analogue speedometers overread. This tendency often increases as the speed rises. There are other posts on this Forum where similar effects have been noted - Streaky

The B2 speed reading is accurate. Generally your speedo isn't.
And no, my B2 doesn't pick up laser. And I'm on my 4th one....
Long story.
Should point out that that was 4 returns.
Origin have replaced my unit with a spanking new one and it appears to be fine now.
Any problems, a bloke call Dave is a nice guy and will try his best to sort it out. Give 'em a call.
Ummm. The ob2 can be triggered by an infra red device. Good test is using a mobile phone. Send a business card via your infra red port (not full proof) but should trigger 90% of time. If you suffer from false laser alerts; this is normally caused by low level sunlight (obviously if you can see the sun!) or on some cars; Subaru, TVR500, Civic Type-R, Jag' X-Type electrical noise in the igition system (wiring loom of the car) false alarms can be triggered, especially under right boot conditions! :-)
