Anyone have any ideas on this?? Its for a 97Cerb, slightly different arrangement to the one in the workshop manual I believe and different to the Sagaris set up in Graham Varleys excellent workshop manual too... frown

scratchchin

edit:

Do people cut them out?

Do they undo the top wishbone and push them upwards?

Do they remove them completely??

The ARB is 'on top' on ours, not underneath like the later cars/front ones... with a seperate plate to the top damper mount?

Mines a top mounted one and its 'loose' at the moment fir cleaning / painting. Planninf to do this in situ as the only way I can see of removing it is to undo the upright and pass thro' the gap (assuming the gap appears...)

hope this helps

Ben,

You can just undo one end of the drop link. This keeps both rear wheels on the ground on track instead of an antirollbar tending to lift the inner wheel (sounds like female rotary!!) when cornering fast with body roll. But if it slides, it slides. I guess this is for the speed championship?

We're concerned it'll catch the driveshafts like that.

A rather talented driver drove it recently and reckoned it would drive better without. He also described it as a good drift car at the moment. hehe

What do you mean by "when it slides, it slides"?? I've heard that when it does kick out, its more sudden? But it cant be that bad surely??

Do you run without it connected?

If you want to do it then just disconnect one side. It does nothing the. No worries with hitting anything.

I ran mine with it disconnected and tbh it made the car understeer horribly. It may feel a little more on edge with it connected but at least you can get the nose in in the first place.

Mine felt a lot more predictable round Spa with it back on. That's with the larger antiroll bars.

Interesting... we also dont wish to disconnect just one side - the talented driver told us the expense/problem with doing that!

What was that then?

the loose side eventually connected to the driveshafts boot, ripping it apart and spraying grease everywhere. smile £200. Think it took some extreme differential in travel/ground level, but thats what we'll encounter on hillclimbs.

ahhh didn't realise you were hill climbing. In that case yep, disconnecting on side wouldn't be ideal laugh I can easily see it scoffing a driveshaft then.

I'm not sure (on the set up I have) you can get it out completely without removing a lot of other bits.

Perhaps undo the upper wishbones and lift it up out ot thw way?

That looks to be the only real option...

I think we'll attempt that in a few weeks (cars too busy for the next few weekends) - and see how we get on.

If its better without, we'll take it off completely during the body-off. thumbup

I really don't think there's any other option.

I did mess around with cable ties in all sorts of places to disconnect mine completely but couldn't suss any way to do it as there's so little room between the Wishbone and the D-shaft.

How did you keep it in place above the wishbone, did you cable tie it upright?

Haven't tried it above, tried to find a way to suspend it where it was but disconnected.
