Hi guys
The last model I made was a Tamiya Hot Shot (about 15 years ago) and now I am on the search for a new model to build (call it a mid 30's crisis
Anyway, I am after a small (scale model) fully functioning V8, does anybody know if they are available anywhere or does anybody know if they even exist?

Revell / Monogram did a 1/4 scale V8 in the 1970's. Still available at around fifty quid.
Perspex block with all the internals visible. Turn the crank and watch the pistons, valves, cams etc all do their thing. The earliest version of the kit came with a small electric motor housed in the gearbox, later ones just had a windey handle instead.
Good kit for demonstrating the four stroke cycle of the infernal combustion engine (almost as good at that as the Deutz engine screen-saver for your pc)

Thats cool but I was looking for one that can be used to actually power a car.

Functioning V8 engines for model cars are available - sometimes as a kit of castings, as well as a fully built up engines. Costs will probably be upwards of £4,000 for the engine alone (e.g Conley Stinger 609). This is a 6 cubic inch V8 with electric start. It produces around 6 bhp at 9,500 rpm. I think it's quarter scale; anything smaller and you are getting into extremely specialist engineering, which will likely be (even more) expensive!
