Anyone know what Chicksands is like?
Thinking of heading out there tomorrow, the website currently says the XC is closed (but some of the website seems out of date) Anyone know any different? or if you can just venture through the forest?
Also the Website makes out the Downhill and Freeride sections are "severe", does anyone know how hardcore this is?
Any help much appreciated.

4X trail is ace. Nothing you can't roll, so fine for all abilities.
Dual track and short course DHs are great too, but not as well kept as the 4X.
On the far side of the track there are drops, little chutes, north shore type stuff. Again, lots of easy stuff right the way up to stupidly hard stuff.
Great venue, doesn't get boggy due to the sand content in the soil. It's not a massive venue (bar the XC course), so just ride around and find stuff to mess around on.
You'll have fun!!!
Remember a few quid if the warden is around. Money goes into trail building and maintenance so worth paying

fantastic place, the only real severe place is the free ride area and a bit of the dirt jump area, we were there last month, great day out and yes the XC trail you can do but once you get hooked on the 4x track you wont want to do the XC LOL

Chicksands is great. Went there for the first time a couple of weeks ago and had a blast. 4X track is really good fun, had a few arse tightening moments when I was travelling too fast for my low ability level. There's a big enough area if you want to go XC for a while but you'll soon be back to the park for a play. It makes Thetford look very dull.
I went over a couple of weekends ago, without the bike, to have a look about. Was pretty impressed, looks like a lot of fun
Have left my bike at Gretch's now as she's not too far away from there. Hoping to get over for a ride soon.
Anyone heading over give me a shout, I'm about during the week a fair bit so would be good to go whilst it's a bit quieter.

Went there last weekend, there are a couple of XC routes marked out with yellow and white arrows. Not particularly long laps but seemed to vary loads in the riding. Great fun, and I am sure there are probably more routes around the place if you go on and adventure, we just lapped the yellow route a few times!
