Been working and not a lot else to save the bucks to book this! Anyone else up for coming along? Would be so much better seeing some familiar faces & wheels heading for the limits on the day!

I could be interested, it depends as I'll need new tyres and pads before it could go near a track... Dependant on money though it could be good - is it open to anyone?

Open to all mate...although they cheekily prioritise RMA members - membership can be bought for £25...which i did as i thought there wouldn't be another close-by trackday that'd i want to head to for a long time after this event. Non members get told if their application's successful a month before the event, so you should get an immediate answer now as to whether the event's full or not. If it is, there's another later in the year. If not, then you get guaranteed entry without having to buy membership smile (atleast that's how i understand it!)

Sounds reasonable. What cars are planning on going and open to all?

The last two RMA events at Odiham have been very good (excepting the weather back in Dec).

It's always open pit lane and there's plenty of run off should you need it! Hopefully we'll have a good show again this May, had an Atom last Dec, Caterham 400 and 500's back in the summer and lots of other random things including a hill climb Mini!

Photo's from Dec's event can be found here and there are also photo's from the summer's event here

I'll be there with my Tuscan again!

Edited to add another link for photo's here!

Booked!

Yeah we'll defo convoy up on the way Pete. Can meet around Winchester on the M3 or something. My first track outing in the Vx220T so I'll go easy on you ;-) Will be a good chance to test my new turbo out.

Looks great from the pictures of previous day's.

I've been thinking about it for a while. What is the surface like at Odiham? Many airfield days I have been on have had really poor tarmac/concrete sections (I have had a look at Google earth and it seems the same there). Also £200 is a bit steep for an airfield, you can get a proper track for that amount.

Odiham airfield is exactly that, an airfield. This one is different to most 'airfield' track days in that it is a properly maintained, Royal Air Force active airfield for use by various types and grades of aircraft, primarily Chinook (for Odiham). They would not be allowed (neither would it be safe) to operate aircraft if the surface was poor. The surface is very flat, smooth and has not got pot holes of other bad surfaces. Speak to Graham or Pete at RMA and ask them what they think of it. They are planning to hold 4 track days there this year so they must think highly of it. HTH smile

I was thinking that. It does seem a tad steep for an Airfield, especially one that is maintained at the expense of the taxpayer.

Welcome back super sharp shooter! Checking back through the booking process on RMA and there's no mention for charging for spectator admission (damn right!...i hope!) - would be awesome to have some of the experience on vid etc . . eveyone'll be signing up now i guess hehe
other charges though:
£95 for additional driver
£25 for (each?) passenger frown
crash helmet's available on day - no price given, just deposit required - just bought a good fit piece from

http://www.v2sport.com/v2sport.html
fairly light and snell2005 cert.ed, so good for any MSA trackdays in the future. should think a bike helmet will get you on track here...

gotta install fixed camera mount next . . know my normal tripod-jammed-down-side-of-seat setup probably won't be allowed...

Adrian Flux confirmed my normal road insurance policy covers me for this trackday as the trackday T&Cs strictly forbid timing and racing - standard stuff for most trackdays.

Away at the international Kit Car show at Stoneliegh that weekend, but thats handy to know about, although the price is a bit steep for an airfield - Goodwood is the same price...

We went to the one in December, there were people spectating, but not sure if they had to have their name on the Gate to get in as it is still an operational base.

Best to call RMA now to check about pre event names submission. Military can take a while to process info like that - don't wanna be held up at gate with all the great sounds wizzing around in the background, that you can't watch!
