Can you please when locking a thread to which people ask a question/complain about the new P&P format direct them via a link to the relevant threads?

Just locking then when the person may not be the most literate pc user in the world is just rude.

You are doing a sterling job gazboy, maybe you need help from the grumpy mods hehe

It just seemed some of the late protesters were not that tech savvy and needed pointers to the myriad of ph forums where their questions were being discussed.

So I am sorry if you think I am being rude when after 4 days of going around in circles I just cannot think of a reply to this statement:

Goodbye Pistonheads.
Something better than the 'see ya' he got may have been nice, I know you did not post that but the attitude of some of the mods to long term posters has been dissapointing at least and way out of line in others, as the 'face' of the site I believe some should exercise more measured responses or there may be an exodus.

Not at all other than it being an off the cuff so what leave attitude. Even something along the lines of "sorry to hear that and hope you may change your mind" would have been cool, some of the mods have acted poorly in several threads, some have acted as one would expect.

Nice maybe, but IMO unnecessary given the posters' comment!
Chin up Gazboy, I'm sure the majority of us appreciate what a week it has been for you lot!

Perhaps asking them to close the door quietly and turn the lights off as the Mods were trying to get some sleep would have been nicer??

(BTW I don't envy the mods at the moment and am not critising them at all... you've still got your work cut out for days to come methinks!)

I suspect stopping the thread was the wrong thing. This site exists for debate and constructive criticism, even if it is a bit bordeline, just look at the section title so closing the thread gags us (and you lot, MODS) to respond.
Had you all given an explanation he may have come back to it and apologised but you gave him no chance. I found it all a bit curt and unnecessary. You had the moral high ground but you've lost it.

There are plenty of threads on the forum where these issues can be debated I think that it was closed to streamline things and, as Gaz said above, we've had plenty of these threads and we've resolved as a group not to get dragged into arguments in every case.

Can I also take the opportunity to publicly say how much the full time staff on PH appreciate more than ever the sterling efforts that the Mods have put in this week. Emotions have been running high and they've had more work than ever to deal with, including some frankly unnecessary personal attacks at times. Whilst the moderators' efforts are not always appreciated here, I can tell you that without them this place would be ruined within days.

OK. Understood but it seems the previous chap was given short shrift and 'allowed' to leave without any explanation. I thought, while he was blunt and a bit tactless, his comments warranted a more substantial reply.

Maybe I've missed something, if so apologies. I respect the moderators efforts but feel the cutting off wasn't the right response.

Anyway, keep up the hard work, I won't be leaving any time soon...
