Oil Catch Can Fitted
Discussion
I finally got around to fitting the oil catch tank.
The inlet is a 25 mm hose take off fitted to the underside of the can with a 90 degree elbow connecting it to the cam case.
The bracket is a bit agricultural - I should get a nice stainless steel one made up.
Have to go for a blast to try it

As delivered there is nothing in the box to trap the oil.
I've been experimenting with ali sheet to make a baffle plate.
Yes I agree the angles are a bit heavy and too restrictive. It seemed like a good idea at the time to avoid a nasty python of hose looping around into the airboxes.
But the whole point was not to restrict flow and risk pressure blowing oil through the crank seals. So I'll probably get some straight connectors, more hose and experiment with a suitable root for the hose.
Its like any of these DIY jobs - now that I have done it I know how I should really have done it
It does look better than I thought it would - needs some new stainless hose clips. The ones used are out of the bits and pieces box.
Hose finishers would look very tidy but I couldn't find any big enough and I could probably get the injectors ultrasound cleaned for the same price. The largest that I did find were £20 each!

No worries it's easy for me to sit here and criticise! lol Just ideas for improving. Not the end of the world if you weren't suffering carry over in the first place. Main thing is just slow the air down as much as possible and allow time for the oil to fall out of the gas.
I'm probably going to have the same thing with my caliper rebuild, do one, mess it up and the get the second one just how I want it.

Having mucked about getting bored drilling holes in ali plate it occurs to me that I need something already full of small holes like aluminium mesh. Then I can fold a concertina or some such and make it a tight push fit inside the can.
Duh! why did it take half an hour of pointless drilling to trigger the thought

I was going to use wire wool but I read on a couple of sites of fears that it might get sucked into the engine.
Someone suggested coarse plastic pan scrubbers as an alternative. OK I suppose as long as they are oil sludge resistant.
Anyone any thoughts or experience on whether there is a potential problem of wire wool getting into the engine?
