This ad bureau thing ...

The ad.bureau that kicks in half way through loading a page, is it supposed to hang the browser session for seconds at a time whilst it loads?

Frustrating to use and most noticible with long threads. Very annoying as you cannot even tab to other sessions whilst waiting for it to load. Or is that part of the design - to keep you waiting whilst it loads some shyte about insurance you'll never buy pops up.


I though PH was going to fix this recently. Sorry guys, but the don't think the changes have worked.

Browsing it on an iPhone has rooted it as well, half the page loads then a good 60 seconds for the inline advert to load, then it finishes loading the page.


Incidentally, is it me or is PH slow, there's 2-3 seconds before i start getting data back, all my other internets are fine though.

It's actually OK for me at present, but I agree that it can be really bloody annoying. Nothing to do with the PH site - it's just the ad calls on our ad server which cause problems sometimes. We have a new and shiny piece of ad serving technology coming in this year which will, we're assured, do away with the problem, but the proof will be in the pudding.

If it isn't can I break it please. It hangs PH sessions for 10-20 seconds at a time .. waiting ... waiting ...

Sorry to carp on at this, but this has got to be a bug. I can't believe this is the design of the thing. Surely not. Surely no one would design a dumpjunk server that hangs an internet session for 10-20 seconds at a time.

We will be switching to a new advertising system soon which, as well as being faster, will make the adverts the last thing to load on the page. This will mean that they will not hold up your reading or browsing any more!
