911 against 3R

Took out a brand new 3.8 911 4S yesterday for a spin, (mate had it on lone for the weekend so we could test it properly if you know what I mean). It was nice-that was about the height of it-nice. Didn’t feel connected at all, very easy to drive fast but something was missing!. I’ve always been a fan of the 911 but I was disappointed. Very comfy lots of space for the driver, nice noise once opened up but that was it. Then I jumped into my (fraction of the cost) 3R with my head against the headliner and my knees around the steering wheel, what a difference!!!!-Connection!!!. I have seen threads on here where people have been in two minds on these cars and where people have moved onto 911, but I think I would struggle not to regret the move. Next plan is to get our hands on the full-fat turbo, maybe that’s where we are going wrong in comparing, but when you look at them on paper there’s not that much in it. For me for now its still Nobles-plastic fantastic!!!

I am in the fortunate positition of having both a 997TT and a M400. They are both fantastic cars. The Porsche is clearly much more sophisticated with a luxury interior and the acceleration is quiet and effortless. The Noble has similar performance but much more exciting to drive.

I could spend hours comparing and contrasting the 2 cars .

I came from a 996TT to an M400 and never regretted it.
In terms of straight line performance there is very little difference.
The noble upto 110 the porsche from then on.
In terms of twisties on a track like anglesey the porsche wouldn't stand a chance.

I spent yesterday doing some laps around a circuit in a ferrari 360 and Audi R8 and i thought the Noble felt better than the 360 by miles !!! now the Audi ...wow it was awsome !!!!

Pah! F360,(stradale excepted) you REALLY need to try an F430 (with CCB's) that'll make the Audi feel like the F360 in comparison.
ETS the Audi build quality is almost perfection, if only Ferrari could match their assembling.

Ha ha , what you have to know is .....it was pouring with rain !!! the ferrari was scarey as hell !! and the flappy paddle gearbox ....oh dear !!! but the manual Audi was just supreme the way it put the power down and handled was awsome ,could have driven it around all day !!! and the built quality

Just gone from a GT03 to a Mk2 Gt3 Porsche 911 Clubsport. I would say that the straight line performance is very similar up to 80-90 from then on the Porsche would have the legs on it. At low speeds the Noble is a nicer car to drive and is happy to tickle around like a standard car.
Haven't driven the Porsche on track but I have a feeling that my new car will be very good. Again the Noble I know is a good car on track but when you get into the performance that these cars a capable of it becomes as much about the driver as the car if not more.
Advantages to the Porsche are I would say build quality and obviously proven development, beyond that there's not much in it.

Well the F360 is snappy enough in the dry no wonder you didn't like it.
I think the rain probably gave the Audi a few more brownie points than it actually deserves.
I drove one on a dry day and though obviously a nice place to be, I thought a little "understeery". Then again maybe I wasn't trying hard enough

I agree with F.C, I test drove the F430 end of last year and was blown away. Its what made me go for the noble-the closest thing I could buy without having to re-mortgage the house!!!lol

I've gone from a GTO-3 to a 996 Turbo and can't say I have regretted it at the mo. The Noble was certainly more fun at lower speeds in the lanes etc. However if I do have a negative thought about the 996 turbo, its that it's to easy to get to lose license speeds due to being to effortless on the motorway.

I'd give anything to have a drive of either at the mo. I'm traveling Bhutan (Near Tibet) and the mountains roads (Some 4m above sea level) are insane. I kept wanting either of the beasts to blat down them. Although the other half is right, I would more than likely end up at the bottom in a tangled mess, but what a way to go, lol.
