Hi guys iv just finished changing the front and rear discs and pads on my 1997 passat tdi although i first noticed the problem after doing the fronts but decided to carry on anyway.Basicaly what is happening is now when you apply the brake pedal it has a very low biting point and if you hold the pedal it slowly drops all the way to the floor, if you pump it it will get higher but if you hold it it just keeps dropping.Doesnt seem to do it with the ignition off but the bitting point is still very low, its like the system is losing pressure and i cant see any signs that its leaking. Was fine before i did this work so what have i done, thanks for any assistance.

If you pump the pedal does it get firmer and firmer.... Just thinking you may have introduced some air into the fluid.

Well took it a run on someones advise to get the pistons to come out and the pedal is ok now but the front brakes are smoking badly like they are constantly rubbing.

sounds like air in the system to me

and i sure as heck woudn't be taking my car out if the brakes weren't holding pressure. yikes
