I'm thinking of getting a Hyundai coupe, specifically a 2003 v6.
Looked at one yesterday and was very impressed, a lot of car for the money.
Weighing it up against the Celica, either a 140 or 190 which I haven't tried yet.
What's peoples oppinions who have tried or owned both?
What are the things to look out for on them?

In what way do you think it is a better drive?What impressed me with the v6 engine is the way it pulled at low/mid revs because of the better torque.
I'm hoping to test-drive a 190 tomorrow so it will be interesting to see how it compares while the Hyundai is still fresh in my mind.
hmmmm, own a V6 Coupe and work for Toyota. The Coupe is more a GT type car to the Celica. Much more refined for longer distance motorway driving, but can quite easily be hustled through the twisties too.
The Celica is lighter, so does handle a bit tighter, but to be honest, also feels a little more 'tinny' to the Hyundai. I much prefer the lower down lazy torque from the V6 than the rev the guts out of it Celica.
The other thing is, the Celica is more powerful. 190bhp to the Coupe 165bhp, but with a couple of little tweaks, the Coupe is just as quick as the Celica in everyday use. I'd say mine is closer to 190 now with a new exhaust and Air filter. The exhaust on the Coupe is extremely restrictive and strangles it quite a bit.
Really depends what your after from the car. I love both, but just fancied the more refined engine characteristics of the V6.

Don't know exactly, but i did say closer to not exactly! It certainly feels alot stronger and pulls almost neck and neck with various 190 Celica/Corolla's. I reckon its about 180ish, but certainly a fairly large improvement over the weady 165. Graeme_Gman said:

From an owners point of view, whats the v6 coupe like, any problems and things to look out for?
Got a pipercross filter with a cold air feed and an exhaust from XS Power, which had to be shipped from the states.
from an owners point of view, I think it has been a great car. Not completely without it's problems, but it does come with a 5 year warranty, so not a huge problem. They seem to suffer from weak rear engine mounts. Mine went a few months back, so replaced front and rear with uprated poly bushes. Also the central locking went nuts, but the door locks were replaced under warranty.
Other than that, it's been perfect. I've had mine now 2.5 years and covered about 50k miles in it. The only thing I would say is fuel consumption. Being a 6 means it can be a bit thirsty. Around town it will get through a tank in about 240-260 miles, but get it on a motorway and that will go right up to about 400+ to a tank.
