Hi, Can anyone tell me if these are available. I have a e60 525 sport that I love but in the snow I was shocked how cr*p it was as it was stranded on my driveway for a fortnight. I slipped into a 4x4 Isuzu pickup that my company ownes that was superbly in the adverse conditions. Since I spend 2/3 weeks each year in ski resorts I thought about a 4x4 BMW but am not keen on the old drug dealer X5/Range Rover thing. Someone told me that they are available in mainland Europe is this so?

Thanks

Sam

Not sure about the 5, but the 3 series is availiable as a 4x4, I saw a LHD 330xd in the classifieds a while back.

Just about the whole range is available in 4 wheel drive, they are xd's and xi's in touring or saloon.
But not in the UK. frown

BMW UK feel that it is not in keeping with the sporty image BMW has.

BMW also sell more 4 wheel drive vehicles than any other German Marque, so it just shows how important it is as far as the customer is concerned.

More than Audi?!

The 3 and 5 series AWD versions are LHD only.

Try some proper snow tyres - I run them in the winter on my E61 and they make a world of difference. Still not as good as an AWD 5 with snows I'm sure but better than an AWD 5 on 40 series summer tyres.

I spotted a 530iX in France last summer - took a photo because the wheels have a different offset to the rwd versions (as on the E34 iX):
