330D tunning box or ECU remap??

I've been considering getting my car remapped for a while now, its the 184bhp and there seem to be a lot of different offers and prices giving very different outcomes. Found a tunning box that claims to give 231bhp (www.racechip.de) surely this is better than getting the ECU reprogrammed and must do exactly the same thing? change mapping and boost pressure ect ect..
I'm only guessing here and would happily be put straight.

tuning boxes are very crude in what they do mate, remap all the way. worth every penny.

tuning boxes do work and can give maybe 20% of a lift in power. Advantages are that they are easily removed and (theoretically) untracable. Remapping will result in more power but is easier traced should there be a warranty claim.

I've had about 10 cars fitted with tuning boxes and have been very happy with the results.

Be careful on how much torque your box can handle though.
