I have given up, and am relying on all our learned readers. I came across a postcard in a drawer after my uncle died. The post card is date stamped 1911, and is a picture of a pub called "The Dickin Arms", at Loppington, which is still there.

What I am trying to work is where the postcard was sent to, I cant make out the name bottom from the address. The one above "Nr Bridgenorth". Any ideas?

I wonder if the address actually still exists, I am guessing "The Holt" was a house name.

I doubt its a town name, Bridgnorth itself is a town (in Shropshire) so the illegible name is probably a small village near or even suburb of Bridgnorth.

Edited to add yup Quatt seems highly likely!

Absolutely fantastics chaps, have to have a gander now, I intend to copy the pic of the pub and send it to the current owners, shows the pub around 1911'ish.

I went on the style of his Capital T & N and presumed he would add/lose sections of letters, so knew it wouldn't be an L

"2" is an alternative form of capitalisation of 'q', as well as "Q"

Well, it was in my days at school.

Interesting, bearing in mind it was penned in 1911.

I used to drive regulary dowwn the 442 from Brdignorth. Don't remember Quatt must be a very small place a few houses and a pub probably

do you have a picture of the other side of the postcard? would be interested to see what a pub in 1911 looked like.

amazing how all those years ago they managed to find the houses without having to put county and post code

Heres the other side of the postcard.

Date stamp on the postcard is MY 12 11, guess May 12th 1911.

I suppose in those days, especially with the small villages, the postman just about knew everyone there.
