The general consensus is that a Corvette can get almost 40 miles per (imperial) gallon at a 70 MPH cruise in sixth due to excellent aerodynamics and a very long-legged high gear.*

I'm wondering if the Tuscan has such long legs. If you're cruising down the motorway, is the (lighter, smaller-frontal-area, smaller-engined) Tuscan that efficient? Have any of you driven that slowly that consistently for enough time to draw a conclusion?

*32-35 miles/American gallon, which works out to 40-45 miles/Imperial gallon.

Yes, that seems about right- I just want to see if anyone ever did a long motorway journey in one.

You 'can' get about 28 - 30mpg out of a griff 500, if you cruise at around 70 - 80 mph. Actually amazed to get to birmingham NEC and back once on less than a full tank.
Mainly M40

I would espect a six to be better.

I have returned around 28mpg, the majority of time doing 70-85mph (in legal locations of course!!!!), over 300-400 mile trips, with a very small amount of buzzing around town thrown in.

I think I average around 23 mpg, although I try not to think about it too much!

I did an 850 mile journey upto, around and back from Scotland last year with a mixture of driving speeds and styles. Checked my before and after stats and the car returned a respectable 27 mpg. This included some pretty steady motorway cruising at around 80mph, with one or two faster indiscretions that I will not admit to publicly. Normally get around 250 miles to a tank average - over the time and 6,000 miles done since getting the car.

If you press the pedal in the far right a bit harder you'll find the perfomance improves enormously! If you're short, like me, you may find moving the seat forward will help!

unfortunately when you spend half the journey in 1st gear and in stationery traffic, pushing the far right pedal hard will just ram the car in front

Hi! I was just being a bit cheeky, you'd said you were currently getting 23 mph (miles per hour) instead of mpg (miles per gallon). Hence I made the comment about going a bit faster! Sorry if this offended in any way it wasn't intended.

Glad to hear of another girly enjoying her Tuscan, long may it continue.
