Sounds fair enough - so well over 5 quid a mile.

I'd go for one of the car clubs.

Think you need to increase the consumbales and servicing costs - will you be wanting a warranty every year as well? Otherwise, I think that that the depreication will be slightly worse over the three remaining years - new model due, the 08 and 09 cars had a better standard spec so may hold up better ..

A proper 360Spider in red/crema is still 60k so I don't yet see the day a 430 spider will be anywhere near the £50k mark. The new car will be near circa 200k and will probably hold a premium for a year or two so there won't be any of those around going cheap for at least another 4 years.

In my quest to buy the 430 spider I found that good cars were becomming harder to find.I really wanted an 05 but could not find a good one for less than 85k and even that ment a compromise with red black trim.

In the end I had to spend the extra and go for an 06/56 to get my ideal spec of red/crema/daytona seats with nav/tooth/calipers and wing shields.

I could have bought other colours 5-8k cheaper but red/crema really does hold up despite what anyone says.

I avoided the carbon brakes as the 10k cost to replace just seems a bit of a worry.

Hope that helps.

No! You're supposed to be persuading me!!!

Yes I need to factor £5k for warranty for years 5 and 6 of the cars life. Regards depreciation, I know a new model is coming but I reckon this will be closer to £200k, so I think a £60 - £80k Spider won't be hit too hard by the time new models appear on the second hand market in say 12 months time?
you're better off sticking a bit more cash in putting order in for430 replacement which looks stunning in illustrations. Over all cost of ownership will be less or the same as a used 430 on a like for like basis IMO

Couple of years ago I would have said same, but I don't really fancy having £200k tied up in a car even if I could afford it. Plus I still think if you buy the replacement and keep it you will still take a hit of £50k or so. So much depends on the economy the next couple of years...
I'd second that, times have changed, only a few weeks back I was at my local F/M for a service. "new" 430's were around 150k or so, however 6 month old/2000 milers were 125k or so. Add in the bid/offer spread and you're talking being offered 105k for a 6 month old car.
