I've just taken a wheel off ond let it drop face down onto the gravel car park, never realising the alloy protrudes past the tyre. Ironically I had the wheel off to clean and polish it's inside.

But now all 5 spokes look like this at their outermost point:

I realise that to get it back to normal is a professional refurb job but might I be able to fix it temporarily myself somehow? Any thoughts? Some v.fine wed and dry?

Have a look at the Scratch Doctor kit on Ebay. I just did all four alloys on my car with surprisingly good results. You can tell that there's been a repair, but only if you know that there's been a repair and you're looking for it. I reckoned that it was worth the reasonably low outlay to give it a try, knowing that I could always fall back on a refurbishment if it didn't work out with the kit.

Thanks oktapod. smile I've seen these kits but haven't spoken to anyone who's used one so I thought they might be rubbish. I'll give it a try and if it all goes wrong I'll blame you. punch
