T350 startup - something missing.

Hi all - something is a amiss with my T350 on startup - normally on turning the ignition the needles do the normal sweep thing then a humming noise kicks in (fuel pump?) turn over and off you go.

Now the needles do the sweep but no humming noise but the car starts OK, and drives fine.

Any idea what's not starting\kicking in? - obviously need to get it looked at but would like an idea of what it might be - any suggestions most welcome.

The humming noise is the radio, switch radio on and volume to normal try again and you will get the bleep bleep hummmmmmmmmmmm

Is the hum not the heater flap moving? Try the start up again with the heater fan on.

My radio is always off - so I don't think it is that - maybe it is the heater I will check this.

The hum in my sag is the heater fan turning itself on.

Fuel pump is more of a short 'manic' whirr than a hummmmm which lasts longer. As said this is the heater flap moving to its default position.

Cheers guys - nothing to serious then hopefully, will check the heater, the first few times I noticed it I did hear a small click, (no click now though) just when I expected to hear the humm so maybe something electrical gone.

Had this happen to me and it took me a while to figure out. As you said, you get used to all the noises that lead to starting and poo yourself if one is missing! Turns out I'd switched off the aircon/heater fan. Pressed the fan-speed dial and hey-presto, stress-free startup!

It can also be the power steering pump if the fluid is low!

humming is usually the heater fan set on a low speed setting. If its off or high then you don't get the hum

Agree with what others have said - it's probably the heater fan.

Took me many months of ownership to realise it could even be switched off.
