For comparison (when Nige answers) my ZR cost £1000 picked up in Kentucky and delivered to Tilbury. It had to come on consolidation in a container cos it didn't have an engine. I am importing a GMC truck at the moment, that is going to cost £960.00 Orlando to Jacksonville to Southhampton.

Hi Brett,

Jan and I both used Wallenius Wilhelmsen

www.2wglobal.com/www/WEP/index.jsp

I also used them to bring the LT4 across in 1999.

They have an excellent service but it is for cars only that move under there own steam as it is a Roll-on-Roll-off car transporter service.
It cost approx £500 + £100 agent fee per car. Both shipping from Baltimore, one to Southampton and two to Liverpool.
It is well worth paying the agents fee as WW will then do all of the paperwork and deal with HM Customs regarding clearance and will arrange to pay the VAT and duty. The advantage of this is you can collect the car the day after it arrives in dock and no hassle.

Shipping from Baltimore takes about 10-14 days depending on the route. WW pickup from all along the Eastern US from Miami to Halifax so you decide where and when and then match to a route/schedule. Usually the car needs to be at the docks 5 working days prior to shipping to get US Customs clearance.

WW use Atlantic Containers ships and they have this really great tracking service so you can see where the ship is at all times (it updates every 8 hours).

Sad, but a lot of fun when you are awaiting a new car
