sticking accelerator

hey guys can anyone help me out here due to there being an accident on my way home the other night the road was closed and i had to do a massive detour to get some fuel the needle was just below the line and the car really didnt like it.
well after filling up with fuel it coughed and farted a bit even giving a miss fire when i was trying to restart it. Fineally got going and its now running like a sack of **** and the acceleratorkeeps sticking, the rev needle going all the way round to max and then runs fine then cuts out as you can imagine i had a very interesting drive home. Any ideas im kinda fingers crossed its just a fuel filter ????

Not sure if you will find an idle control valve--none were fitted to U.S. cars

On the sticking throttle, though, it's quite possible the cable has locally melted in an area where it runs close to the front turbo. In which case the car is not safe to drive and a throttle cable replacement is mandatory.

sounds mildly like fuel starvation, then supply, which could be the filter. Seeing that you sucked the tank dry, along with any debris, I would be looking at the filter first. As regards the sticking throttle, does the GO pedal stay down when the sticking happens ? If so, that could be a secondary issue of a locally melted throttle cable as mentioned before. I had this happen last year on a 3R and it scared the crap out of me. Ended up changing over to a M400 uprated cable and since then, no issues. Be safe, dont want that to happen out on the road, elsewise might be the end of the Noble or worse !
Just to let you guys know i took the fuel filter apart and couldnt believe it due to such low fuel the casing had vacumed up so tight it had twisted the paper filter up and nothing could get threw it so new filter and all happy. Well except for the throttle cable thats ma next job !!! how easy are they to fit ???
