Two Questions Please
Discussion
Hope no one minds me asking two questions and getting your knowledge.
1) Could you tell me how good a price this car is. 2000 Ferrari 360 F1, 32K miles, 2 owners, Red with Cream, Officially service by Ferrari for 4 years and then serviced at all the correct times by an independent service centre in the North known to me. Owned by a friend for 5 years and he wants a quick sale. Offered to me for £40k - its has just had a big service and had all stone chips sorted. It is also a car that has never had any problems.
Your thoughts would be nice, thank you.
2) Would you avoid ex gumball cars ? What % discount would you expect for a gumball car if any (its not the 360 above).
Thank you for your time
Josh

Not sure why people are so put off by car that has been driven 3000 miles in a week, by someone who can clearly afford to maintain it. I would have thought a single track-day would do the car much more damage than a drive along a few motorways. These cars are designed to be driven, so a few k miles at high speeds should do no more damage than a few stone chips.Edited by matc on Tuesday 14th April 20:15

I'm guessing, i don't know. Its a certain type of person who enters the Gumball. I would not want an ex gumball car, i think its asking for trouble, but then i would avoid any car that has been tracked a lot too. Maybe peace of mind other than anything else.
I think it would maybe be worth about 38k but I'm not 100% sure. Have a look on autotrader/pistonheads classifieds to see what similar age/mileage cars are up at. One thing to bear in mind though is that the f1 gearbox on pre 03 cars is pretty bad. The general consensus is too avoid it, unless you upgrade it, you can get a ecu upgrade for 800 quid ( i think, don't quote me on it though) which will sort it out. So if you buy the car budget for that as well.

Try a search on youtube to see how its been driven. I was offered a 2004 360 F1 which i saw driven on the 2005 event (and 2004 on TV) so politely declined. Each to their own i think. To be honest, you don't know that a non-gumball car has been treated (driven) any better or worse than one that has been around europe....it's the look of the draw....
Researching into it's history only throws up problems that have been sorted, it doesn't say that something is just about to let go.
Personally I'd buy an ex-gumball, just like i'd prefer to buy off PH rather than autotrader....I imagine the owners care about their cars a little more....but then again.
What would you say to a car from 6th gear (andy and simons co.) or similar, if it was put up for sale?
