If a 500 Serp has the pre-cat & main cat removed does the car have to be remapped ECU wise or will it run normal with standard settings...
I've run mine on a R/R with a cat & a borrowed non cat chip, not alot of difference tbh...I'm sure a remapped/custom chip would be better but i would rather save some £££ for a non Lucas system

I found that mine ran lean at high revs with the stock chip, it was better with the det-cat chip but still slightly lean at high revs, when I fitted the Act inlet bits it changed again, in short it depends on exactly whats been done (and what you plan to do) to the engine, de cat, cam , inlet system etc all allow more air through the engine increasing the amount of fuel required to stop it running lean and detonating (pinking) the stock ECU will copmensate to some extent for a little extra air but the only way to be safe is to get it checked on a dyno after each change. Unless you alter the chip map you can't change the fueling (well you can fit a adjustable reg and rise the fueling across the rail ) but the best way is to plan your mods get all the bits together and fitted at the same time and have a chip burned that suits your individual set up, then leave well alone. Or you can go to a map-able ECU (emerald, Motec, etc) then you can mess about with different setting and specs then tuning process will never stop!!!
