Hi

I've just recieved an "amendment to statement of main terms of employment".
Whilst not unexpected is it possible for the compnay to back date my pay cut?

Is their a minimum notice period for such changes?

Thanks,

iirc all amendments have to be agreed to by both parties.
Backdated pay cut?, so they are expecting you to return money already paid?
i think that that, is not valid under the current employment rules.

I have never heard of a pay cut being backdated. How do they intend to recover the money? If they plan to recover it through the payroll then I would send a letter stating that I accept the pay cut going forward, but do not accept it being backdated and do not authorise them deducting any money from my pay.

If they expect you to pay them a cheque then again, I would send a letter stating I accept the pay cut going forward only and will not be reimbursing any money to the company.

I personally make sure employees always receive a minimum of 1 months notice of any change to contract, especially when it relates to reductions in salary.
