Wearing loyalty cards on bags and briefcases?

What is this all about?

I can understand if you're travelling and they go on your checked luggage as they can be used to retrace the owner of any missing luggage, but on laptop bags and the like?

And even if you are going to have one, please make it something people might actually be impressed by.

I have a BMI tag on my laptop case, when I am flying offshore the bag goes in the hold and it makes it easier to identify when picking it up, same applies to some smaller aircraft where it goes in the hold and I pick it up when leaving the aircraft.

Why would anyone be at all interested on what tags people have on their bags ????

I keep my Virgin and BA cards on my baggage so that I can identify them and they can be traced by the airlines without me having to put an address or phone number on them.

I did not think those cards had your names and address on, dont they just show a credit card likeness so that you become just a number in their systems, so that we, the jealous travellers watch you walk by us in your chinos and brown shoes thrusting your card into the poor check-in girls face like a copper, demanding an upgrade, no well its just me then (minus the chinos and brown shoes)

I was joking about the jealously thing, I never gave it any thought as it's just an anonymous baggage tag to me.....

Chinos and brown shoes? No, I travel to West Africa, I go looking like a drunken hobo and hope I don't get robbed leaving the bloomin airport!

I'm a frequent flyer and have Gold cards with BMI and BA. I always have tags on hold luggage as it's easier to identify on the carousel, usually one of the first ones to appear on the carousel with airlines who give Gold customers' baggage priority, and also gets your frequent flyer status in the eyes of the check-in people if you're blagging an upgrade to 1st or Business class.

I don't put tags on briefcase though. That's just wky.

When I worked for a certain airline, loyalty card customers were asked to tag their bags, and they were always unloaded first.

i guess the more 'prestigous' the card colour, the more chance the kit in the bag will be worth nicking. only negative i can think of.

when i read the OP, i did wonder if he's seen someone with a tesco clubcard on their luggage!

I'm bmi gold and will put the tags on my hand luggage if travelling with partner airlines (SAS, Lufthansa, Lot, Swiss in particular) to try and help blag upgrades/better treatment.

I forgot my real card once, and managed to use my luggage tag as id instead...

Good old MMIA! I used to stay at the Eko, but I'm (now) staying on a semi-permanent basis at the Elion House which is clean, safe, good food and easy travel to the office, oh and the staff aren't turbo-magpies!

When you see the Nigerians travelling with full sets of Gucci and Louis Vuitton luggage, last thing anyone is gonna nick is my battered old Samsonite.....regardless of card colour!
