I am looking at purchasing a "as new" Hublot Elegant Series Men's 2 Tone Chronograph in 18K Yellow Gold and Stainless Steel on Rubber Strap.
Similar to this one but with a black face.

Would appreciate opinions from the experts as to quality of movement etc, there is not a lot on the internet re these watches, everyone is pre-occupied by the Big Bang.

That'll be the Hublot Elegant chrono in steel and 18ct yellow gold. I used to have one of these in steel, it's one of my favourite watches. A beautifully made case, a very well detailed dial, very comfortable strap..... a great watch. The movement is an ETA 2892 base calibre with a Dubois Depraz 2021 chronograph module, in english- a very good proprietory movement.

Hublot don't make this anymore, everything seems to be geared to marketing the BigBang....shame.

Hublot are great watches, very popular in Europe and increasingly so over here in the UK. As Dom says they are vey much about the BB range of watches now but the classic series are every bit as nice; in fact I prefer them to the BB's. They have done a number of tie ups recently interestingly with Manchester united football club and Morgan cars to do limited series watches.

If you are interested I have a brand new / boxed Super-B chrono in steel if you are interested. see classifieds here.

Nice watch James, I have the same Super-B, but with a slate grey dial.

Thanks for the confirmation,
I have bought the watch. I am very pleased it looks great.

What is the story re the rubber straps, can you get them in any size and I assume you can only get them from Hublot. I need it shortened by a few mm, can you cut the strap to fit.

The straps are available in different lengths, a combination of which will ensure a correct fit. The straps have a piece of metal moulded into the end that the screw passes through to affix the the case/clasp. I have successfully cut these down to size with a razor.
You could give Hublot a call at LVMH UK in Manchester on 01204 861168...

Nice watch!

Thanks Dom... I also have the same watch with the plain black dial. Personally I am not a huge fan of the BB range, size wise they just wear too large for me, that said the Super-B is not exactly a small watch at 42mm!

Seems the OP's new watch has the older strap configuration where by the actual straps are not adjustable and are on a double deployment. The newer watches have the single deployment where the strap can be ajusted to size.

With the older style I guess that you have to either cut the strap to size (could be difficult as I understand that the rubber straps are re-inforced with metal strips inside) or just purchase a suitable size to fit.
