I've taken off my decat pipes and put the cats back in - sounds better with CCC's. Do I need to stick the original EPROM chip back in or can I continue to run it with the replacement chip put in with the decat pipes? On the 40 miles since putting the cats back in it's running fine but I know the EPROM is set up for the car to run specifically with the decats

Also the MOT is due soon and I don't want it to fail on emissions so any advice very welcome

I can't help with the Eprom query but am just about to decat my Tuscan S. I already have CCC's and don't think it's quite loud enough or I'm just a bit deaf. I would be very interested to know what you don't like about the decat sound before I get it done?

I had to stop getting on the loud pedal going through tunnels because it was just ridiculous! I even put my std cans on for the last few weeks until I managed to put the cats back.

To my mind it sounds like a manufactured loudness and just not as the car should sound, something you might expect from a scoob with a big tail pipe or some other sooped up hot hatch definitely not how I think a SP6 should sound but I guess it's each to his own

I think CCC's with cats is more refined, has a deeper growl and you still get the amazing pops and bangs on overrun. Also std cans with decat pipes too quiet especially on overrun

Ah, I see!
My worry is that after 800 miles my new cats have melted and have heard horror stories about damaged cats being sucked back into the engine. Part of me hopes the decat will let the engine breath better, reduce the heat to the chassis and allay my concerns about ruining my rebuilt engine.

I like the sound of the car with standard cats and CCC's but feel a little more noise would be good. After the Chimaera with cherry bombs and straight through pipes I hope a decat will sound as good if not better. The cars only my weekend toy so everyday ear bleeding won't be a concern.
