Door slow to pop and window not closing to the top???

Hi,

been looking at a Tuscan today and it had a couple of problems with it.

Two were centred around the door and window. The door seems to take a few seconds to pop open after pressing the button whether you are inside or out? Any ideas?

Also when locking the car the drivers window does not close all the way to the top, it just closes a bit (inch or two) so you have to lockj and unlock it a coupl eof times to get it to close fully. Any ideas on the issue here too?


Also ideas on costs to fix would be brilliant even if its just an idea.

Don't worry they all do that Sir!

My drivers window does the same sometimes, if I close the door and it doesn't go all the way up for some reason arming the alarm normally shuts it, even if it may need a slight helping hand if rising very slowly.

Other than that take the chrome panel off on the upper part of the door chassy exposing the electronic regulator which could need a tinker/ clean up or adjustment or even replacing!

Sounds like the encoder inside the door is playing up. Its mounted to the window motor and tracks the movement of the glass up and down. It has a habbit of getting wet and not working right ! The 2 secs or so sounds like the time it normally takes to wind down a bit or up a bit after you've pressed the button (auto-drop)

The door definately take a little longer to pop than the passenger door, which is why i think there must be a fault in there somewhere.

Point 1) delay in door opening. Mine does this - the passenger side takes even longer than the drivers side, but both seem to wait for a couple of seconds before opening. I thought it was normal until I saw some Top Gear videos on youtube where the door opened as soon as the window had lowered itself.

Mine seems worse after it's rained. As mentioned above apparently just cleaning the connectors can help. New encoder isn't too expensive http://www.powerstores.co.uk/?t=si&item=724

My one did the same. Had a had a wee look behind the fibreglass card where the solenoid (below the speaker) is and there were a few connectors on the wires. One was slightly corroded. Replaced it and the door opens much better now. As for the window as said before could be the encoder. Another easy job.

My drivers door opens considerably slower than the passenger side. If not used for a while it almost grinds to a halt and then when you think it's dead the door pops open. Havn't had a problem with the window not rising all the way back up though.
I did all the usual recommended checks/fixes with no improvement. I have come to the conclusion that the glass is not sitting straight in the door ie rubs more at the pillar side, causing friction and slowing it down. There is also more rubber wear towards the back of the door and when wet i get some streaking at the front when the window goes up and down whereas the rubber removes all the water at the back. Hope that helps
