Greatest McLaren driver ever?

who do you think is/was the greatest McLaren driver ever?

my money is on Alain Prost

Ayrton Senna was the best driver to drive a McLaren, followed by Prost, and Hulme. The most fun was Hunt and probably we'll look back in decades to come and Hamilton will be the best and most talented.

so may to choose from. I agree with all of those, and include Fittipaldi, Hakkinen and Lauda. Hamilton could be one of the greats

Does this question need to be asked? Senna every time; Prost was great but not that great.

And of course there's James Hunt, who was great at driving AND a funny guy off the track (see post British GP interview "can I nab that ciggie off you?") and just as great in the commentary box with Murray.

Senna gets my vote. Prost is one of the greats too, but not quite on the same level.

I'd say Senna, Prost, Hakkinen. But not saying anything about Lewis yet but he's very close to overtaking Mika in my list.

I think he was a smarter racer. I think he used to fool Senna into spending time going for the fastest qually lap whilst he (Prost) would be working on a race set-up, and would have a better prepped car for the race. At times he used to qually on race rubber you know, whilst Senna would be going for yet another tilt at pole in a car set up purely for the purpose. Prost did the same at Ferrari too against Mansell.

If you look at Sennas pole to race win ratio, it ain't that special IIRC.

I wouldn't rate him as good as Senna or Prost, but John Watson put in some fairly impressive performances too.

Greatest driver to drive a McLaren at any time in their career or based on results whilst driving a McLaren which could have been over more years?

If it's just greatest I'd say, leaving out Lewis as he's still driving for them and others still racing full time.
