I'm selling my S2 111s on pistonheads and have had a few enquires from france one in particular.
The guy in question is Patrice and he said he's bought 2 recently from the uk and gives the sellers names which i'm obviously not going to mention here but if you think are one of those guys please share your experience with me
Quote: I have 43 years old and 1 children ; I live at ROCHEFORT DU GARD (south of FRANCE)
My house it's 10 miles of track NIMES-LEDENON ( lotus trophy;lotus on track;selloc;catheram;ariel to come because good race and lot of sun ! ! !)
Your advice please
Austin

Just pay the same due diligence to any buyer, be they from the continent or here. If they are coming all the way from France then the likelihood is that they'll pay cash, or they will send you cleared funds.
Insist on the same checks, the same methods of payment etc., the same "no insurance, no test drive" rules etc. whatever makes you comfortable. A buyer who is serious about the car and not going to muck you about shouldn't mind doing those things IMO. Naturally you will also have to extend the same courtesy should they wish the car checked by someone etc.
For info on what to do about the V5 there's plenty of info on DVLA's website.
There's no reason to assume just because one of our Gallic chums is interested in your car that they are some Nigerian 419 scammer.

I sold my Elise yesterday to a young chap from Germany. Very nice to deal with.
After a few email exchanges he said he and his friend would be flying to Stanstead, picking up a lease car and driving down to Chichester (where I live) and would be with me at noon. He said he was happy with the price so no discussion there. He turned up on time and had actually driven from his home in Hockenheim in the end but still had to pay for the flights. He was over the moon with the car, really over the moon! came to my bank with me and paid the cash into my account, I gave him the keys and off they went.
And I managed to nip home (only work a mile from my house) and do all this in my lunch hour... perfect!!
He did tell me that in Germany, he would have to pay 25K Euros to get a car as clean as mine!! I sold it to him for £13,500 :-(
I'm almost tempted to buy another one and drive it over to Germany to sell!
I miss it though! Keep looking at the garage door and knowing there's an empty space behind it.
Still got the 340R though
