Hi Folks - I will be in Norwich from next week for two weeks visiting OH. As she will be working during the day I will have most days up to 4.30ish to myself.

Can anyone suggest things to do here car related? Are there any tracks close to the city, maybe karting, or some prestige garages worth a visit? Or anything along those lines. I have googled but haven't come up with much bar museums, castle etc that we will visit together?

I will also be househunting and will be collecting OH from work so I really don't want to be travelling too far from the city.

Any suggestions?

I lived there 8 years, so know the area reasonably well.

A couple of outdoor kart track are around but are a fair bit out of the city, i.e. Cromer, Swaffham, Beccles. A shiittty indoor one exists (or did until 3 years ago on Vulcan road) near the Airport.

Snetterton is a few miles south of the city on the A11 ,probably only 15 minutes from the city.

Well the fact that he HAS moved was making me feel a bit more confident. I shall visit as many caraven parks as possible and have a full update on why he was excommunicated from Norwich in 2 weeks.

Ignore the indoor one, Ellough is a decent track, but depending which end of Norwich you are, that'll be the best part of 25 minutes away.

CVM is right, Snetterton is 15 mins from the ring road, you may get a test day or track day to watch, but there are no museums etc like some tracks have. ALTHOUGH - If you get a chance - Have a look in the model shop - It's simply amazing (not exaggerating)

Never seen so many models, from cheapy radio controlled cars/planes etc to £2k+ perfect scale models.

If you're doing some shopping, you'll get the run of the mill stuff at Chapelfield in the city centre - House of Fraser/River Island and all that st. If you fancy something a bit different head out towards Tombland, some decent grubberies there too.

Also, the Castle is worth a butchers to kill a couple of hours.

Can't think of anything particularly motoring related though.

You could take a drive a few miles south to Long Stratton and see what Strattons have in stock, usually some lovely cars.

Also Bentley Norwich in the city centre.

Visit the Fat Cat pub off Dereham Road (Nelson Street). It is, by far, the best pub for drinks I have ever been to. The selection is mind boggling. Have a look at their website for the beer menu.

There are some great roads around the North Norfolk coast. The old part of Norwich is nice to walk around in the afternoon sun and has plenty of pubs.

Ask in the EA forum and you'll be put right.

Fat Cat is a great shout - although, obviously, you'll need to be going there on foot or by taxi laugh

Lotus Factory is a good idea too - it's on the road to Snetterton too.

With respect to the roads - Burnham Market is nice, and the Coastal road from there all the way to Hemsby is a decent shout - takes a while, but if you've got a rag top and some time, it's a good jaunt.

I've never been on a car manufacturers factory tour before. Is it worth going? Has anyone any first hand experiences of the Lotus tour? Are cameras allowed etc.
