Newbie question

I am looking at the classified sections trying to convince myself to sell my beloved S series and buy a tamora .
My question is that i understand the speed six got stronger around 04 , and generally the 04 onwards cars seem to be dearer , is there a definitive point that can be checked at which the engine is considered to be stronger .

As a general benchmark (very general) my understanding is that when Smolenski bought the company in the summer-ish 2004 his early 'drive' was for an improvement in quality / reliability so if a yard stick is what you're after thats probably not a bad one to use, but it can only ever be that.

That said there are plenty of excellent 2003 models (& undoubtably some ropey 2005 ones!) - the real key is to check out in detail the history of each model you're interested in, past ownership, servicing, modifications etc. An engine rebuild 2003 model could prove be better for example than an original 2004/5 model. Spend a few evenings on this forum reading up on topics - you'll see its been well covered and the answer is always the same..... research.

Buy on history, provenence and most importantly, on condition. See how the owner looks after it. There are some sheds out there (sometimes this is obvious just from the photos in ads! - I mean who takes pictures to sell their car without cleaning it?!)
