I am in a dilemma. I feel sometimes that my car is way too loud. It has got to the point where our neighbour no longer talks to us because of the noise. That is no huge deal as the bloke is a cock. But sometimes it does get a bit embarrassing when I go down our street creating all that noise. Nobody where I live seems to apreciate nice cars.

I do like the sound they make, but do I like it enough to put up with the disaproving stare's. I have only had the exhaust fitted for about 5 weeks and it cost £1500 fitted! I suppose I could sell it.

Am I being a selfish git by keeping them on? or should I revert back to the factory standard exhaust?

I am just after opinions to help me decide what I should do.

I know the reply's I will get will be biased in favour of keeping them, but try and put yourself in my situation.

Cheers!

Can you knock the car into a high gear and trundle out of the neighbourhood on tickover?

Thats what I always do in my Capristo'd F355.

I do go as far as I can on tickover, but there are speed humps, I need to excelerate slightly to get over them, thats when I get the booming roar. I have made the neighbours car alarm go off about 20 times now.LOL I have argued with him that his alarm must be faulty as nobody elses alarm has gone off!

If you being Hated...your doing it Right wink

Whiteleys very built up so I guess the noise is being exaggerated by it bouncing off all the houses - guess waiting till the ECU moves off cold start doesn't make much of a difference. I know the M6 calms down a bit a few mins after startup.

They sound great going through whiteley.

I think I am very considerate, I have two routes to choose to get to the main road. I allways choose the route that goes by the social housing if it's past 9:30 pm.

Stick with the loud exhaust, its not as though you are driving past your neighbours house all day! Only when you go to work or go out for a drive etc Whats a couple of times a day for what must be a few seconds!

Someone on the Maserati forum posted about loud exhausts:
'And it assist's in the relocation of moronic neighbours.....Nice!' laughlaughlaugh

Yep - Just off Hispano. Defo on the Whiteley PH meet - we can invite the fella up by Tesco's with the whacking great Pick-Up with 3ft tires biggrin - he's a fellow PH'er

As for your neighbours - you can't pick them at the end of the day - I fell out with mine at my old house - nothing to do with the car - just really petty stuff - we made a mends when her car broke down and I helped her out... You thought of taking them for a spin ??

He's the type who wouldnt want to go for a spin. I moved into a brand new house last June at the same time as my other three neighbours. Never really got on with him from the start. He's one of those who has been everywhere, knows everything and done everything. I dont think he likes the fact that he doesnt have the best car in the street. Most people dont care, I just dont understand him. It's just a shame that he insists on creating an atmosphere.

Oh, this should sum them up, his wife has entered 'Britains got talent' this year, says it all really!

I do wonder why anyone on this board dedicated to Ferrari, Lamborghini and Maserati would want to add an exhaust to your supercar to make it sound louder than its meant to be. This is the kind of thing 18-21 year olds do to there peugeot 205, or lowered renault clios.

The fact is, when you hear a car coming down the road making loads of noise, the 'normal' reaction is to ignore it as you know its gooing to be some idiot, trying to make his car sound cool

Having had a gallardo with a tubi, I took it off asap, and reverted to the standard exahust, the reaction from people was so much better and i no longer felt emabarrased to be in something so noisy.

I know you lot aren't going to like this post, but you have to see it from the publics point of view.

A lambo, Ferrari, or maserati is damn cool just as it is. Making it soo loud it scares old ladies is just acting like my 21 year old nephew with his Nissan 200sx with an exhaust the size of a drain pipe.

Its just not cool tbh.

What are you going to do next - add a dump valve and neon lights smile

Sorry, but just my 2c's

While you are there can i reccommend picking up a 'Speed Racer' sun shield for the front window. Goes down a treat wink
