I have a B&M Rip Shifter fitted to my VXR LS2 which is rattling like....err.....a really rattly thing. Does anyone else have one these fitted and if so are you having the same issues? If you did, did you resolve it and if so how? There is nothing obvious I can see and I've tried the silicon on in the gear knob trick without success.

To others that have quick shifters fitted.....can you let me know which ones rattle and don't as I am probably going to change mine for a non rattling one and would appreciate your input.

Cheers

Ive used the G&M Rip shifter in my old VT2 as well as new VE and the new one rattles...
If you use the street version as opposed to race its probably quieter.
But I used the race version both times. Rattle both times, though worse in the new one. Usually under acceleration is where its loudest.
Try ls1.com.au for some suggestions. Otherwise I suspect the regidity to be part of the problem. (ie) A firmer more direct shift is more likely to be rattley.

The standard shifter isn't exactly quiet either, it's mainly the nature of the gearboxes.
I fitted a Billet Pro shifter on my monaro which hasn't been bad but still rattles under acceleration. Also transmits a fair bit of engine/transmission noise.

Only thing that can be remedied to a degree is if its the knob rattling on the top of the shifter shaft. Mine has started to do this as I didn't use sealant between shaft and knob in case I needed to get it off again during fitting (noise goes if I gently twist it to one side).
Liberal application of silicon sealant (RTV or equivalent) can quiet it down a bit.

I have a B&M shifter and it started rattling after mark pulled the engine and gearbox out. It was fine before so I'm convinced it's the knob. There's nothing inherently wrong with the shifter so I'd persevere with the sealant if I were you.
