I was recently in Canada and returning over the new bridge from PEI. The Transcanada from there is very tempting, straight and little traffic, so I pushed my hire Ford Exploder a little. Never saw the oncoming white "plain wrapper" who radared me at around 125ks (in a 110 limit) until he slung a very hard curvaceous tail-wagging 180 behind me and all the fairy lights came on!!!

I pulled over when he came up behind me and opened the door, to meet a very polite young RCMP who asked me if I was in a hurry. I answered "yes, and I realise I was a little over the limit". Very polite "Missed the brakes after the hill did you? can I see your paperwork?", and gave me a verbal warning and "have a good day, I'll not write a warning as you'll only hang it on your office wall". Note NO POMPOUS "I can drive better than you, I've seen too many crashes", lecture, just intelligent conversation and a light-handed warning!

Thats the way trafpol should work!! Not stupid cash raising electroniic highwaymen. Left me with an even better impression of the (good anyway) RCMPs! When will GB return to this?????

I know what you mean, I was actually quite excited when i got stopped for doing 85 on the US Freeway. The road was empty (he joined the freeway behind me from a discrete vantage point and caught up with me)

I let him follow me all the way off the freeway before i pulled over in a safer place, he greeted me politely, commented on my nice clean RX7 and told me try and keep the speed down in the future and sent me on my way with a freindly wave!

I could quite easily be voted the 'Nicest Trafpol in the world' if i didnt upset anyone and just gave out friendly advice all day long.

Advice, im pleased to say is just one of the many tools in my box.

Thta reminds me of the time my car was broken into at my Grandfathers house (many years ago). I phoned the police and a car turned up eventually. They were most upset that I hadn't told them it was the Judges house......
