Discussion
I refer to this artical in the press which states my registration number "CRA1G" has been used by a Fraudster in Staffordshire which adorned his top of the range Bentley...!!!Having recived one Speeding Ticket from Staffordshire Police already I find it unbelievable that this can happen...!!! I have owned this number for 20 odd years and have ABSOLUTELY NO CONNECTION with this Article Whatsoever...!!!

You would think that with the amount of speed cameras, ANPR and CCTV in operation at this moment in time, that someone might have spotted that something was wrong?!
Say to the police you cant remember where you left your Bentley, if they find it can they bring it back.
Get them to write a retraction, you don't want someone who he owed money damaging your car.

Other assets seized in the operation include luxury cars, one bearing the much cherished personalised number plate “CRA 1G”
He might have cherished it, but its not his. Get them to write a retraction, you don't want someone who he owed money damaging your car.

The number plate is his (although he must have obtained it illegally).article said:

He might have cherished it, but its not his. What he doesn't own is the right to use that registration mark.
I'd be wary of making a fuss - DVLA can withdraw the right to use the mark if they get the hump.

..
..??The Number plate has never been HIS..!! Other than him paying £10 for a set of Plastic Plates to BOLT on his CAR...!!!
Being a bit pedantic if you ask me.
And IMHO the DVLA would be more likely to retract it if they thought it was being used by a criminal don't you think.
You probably don't need to do anything Craig but it would be nice if someone acknowledged that the your car and plate (by that I mean the registration mark - just in case anyone wasn't clear
) was nothing to do with this guy.

I don't think Deva Link knows what he is talking about with "making a FUSS" and "DVLA rules" of course you own the Plate,I presume the Aston Martin to which the number is registerd to belongs to you and is in your name? and I presume the speeding ticket you recived you informed the Police and were proved innocent of the offence? If so I don't see you have any problem at all.!This Guy has just had some Plates made up and put them on his Car.!Which is obviously ILLEGAL but if he is prepared to Defraud HM Revenue & Customs out of £138m I don't think sticking False Plates on his car will bother him.!
I do think the Author of the Article should be informed of his LIBELLOUS Misundrstanding and make a public Correction.

CraigW has already correctly explained that he doesn't own the registration number - the Secretary of State for Transport owns them all. And I didn't say "DVLA rules".Bemmer said:

Anyway, here's something more interesting:
"600D 1UCK"
I did wonder about the source of the story - presuming that the website doesn't have its own news reporter - so I Googled a random phrase and only the version of the story on the R4V website contains any reference to the cherished registration.

I would like to make things PERFECTLY clear regarding the Ownership of this number,I have Owned[yes Owned]this number for over 20 years, and for the few pedantic and small minded it means that I have the sole right and entitlment given by the secretary of state to use and transfer it as I wish EXACTLY the same as EVERY single person that Ownes a Cherished number...!!!Why else would people pay such huge amounts of money for a number if they did not own it and have the sole use of it which is why I originally posted this forum.
