I can't wait for this to come out.

I sit here drooling at forza2 - owning a PS3 and wii - denied.

It says about extensive clan/team options - this will be really good i reckon. We can all jump on and represent PH biggrin

I really hope they have weather options and damage. Don't really care about 5 different versions of each Skyline, just lots of unique cars and maybe 1 or 2 versions of each if needed like an F430 & Scuderia etc. Maybe convertibles with the ability to choose roof up or down at the start of the race biggrin

His post actually implies 12 months minus 30 days. So March 2010

He doesn't say 12 months from the begining of the year (not sure why everyone has assumed that) so I would assume he means 11months from now the date of his posting.

ps. Still, I'm going to wait for an official anouncement from PD themselves, not a random criptic post by someone who *might* be making the whole thing up.

The problem with the damage is a lot of the makers didnt want their cars being smashed up realisticly and lets be honest if your going to do something like damage it needs to be realistic otherwise it spoils the overall package somewhat.

I heard that so many times and now think it is a load of bullst.

Case in point: Forza 2. Realistic. Features all the big names. All the cars are pretty damned smashable upable.

Your joking right? Forza 2 realistic? The only damage is bumpers and stuff if you smack into the wall at 100 you just drive off and within 10 seconds in the pits its all repaired! Releastic it is not.

You obviously haven't played the game then. Driving into a wall at that speed would render the car undriveable.

The damage is a lot more than 'bumpers and stuff'

Okay it might not be realistic but then that could be said about any simulation driving game. They are never going to be remotely realistic to driving a car in real life.

Yep owned it for around 2 months before getting shot of the 360. Yes it made the car harder to drive but the fact you could drive away in it at all is my point. If they could blend that sort of game with the crashes of say burnout then it would be an instant winner.

And why cant they be as realistic to driving a car? The tech is there but it seems the console generation cant be arsed to have a learning curve at all in a game. Used to love reading up the instuctions on flight sims or spending an afternoon learning how to take off. Just dont get that anymore.

The damge model in Forza 2 is no where near realistic. Drive into a wall at 150 mph and see what happens. A couple of body parts will fall off and you'll bugger a few parts up. Even the developers admit that it is what they wanted. What PD are trying for in GT5 is to have EVERY car damage realisticly. Including rolling.

Now imagine the grief they are going through trying to get all the car makers singing off the same song sheet. For example, Ford may be happy for their ROAD cars to be damaged but not rolled. But Ferrari maybe unhappy with their cars being damaged and rolled but don't care about their race cars. Pd have to convice all the car makers that having their road cars smashed up and rolled is a good thing.
Rather them than me.
Hope they can do it though. I don't think that it'll make for a better game though. I find in Forza, if i have a big off and damage the engine or the steering i just start again. Imagine doing a 2 hour time trial on GT and crashing on the secound to last lap. How many people would throw their PS3 out the window smile .

I don't know if you did, but if you have simulation damage on then it makes the car undriveable after a crash of that calibre.

I just don't ever see the day (besides VR) when I would want to play a computer game over driving a real car. There are no smells or thrills with playing a computer game as opposed to driving a real car.

I suppose peoples definition of 'realistic' will be different, but to me it would mean being as near close to actually being there as possible. Which I would assume would involve some sort of virtual reality contraption.

It's not realistic but i avoid walls as much as possible, my car seems to damaged quite easily, if you crash in to a wall at 150mph, i always get a red engine, smoke pissing out and it takes about 20 seconds to get over 10mph.

To tose who say you drive away afterwards have not played it on proper settings.

Maybe GT5 could have a 'hardcore' mode, similar to COD? Then you can choose where you have proper damage, visual damage, or no damage at all.

Not having played the GT family for years now - my last outing in a 'proper' racing game was F1 Challenge 99-02 witrh the regular patches and updates.

Forza 2 is nice but still arcadey - RacePro is brilliant but the online sucks and doesn't look as nice as Forza.

If the could use a development of RPs engine and come up with a new graphics package and intuitive and stable online then it would be incredible.

Why are people so excited about this? GT3 was a dull letdown and GT4 was unbelievably boring.

I keep reading thats it's going redefine games and there is 'something in the oven and a new oven and a new bloody kitchen' but never actually what it may be.

Gran Tourismo has been essentially the same since the original just refined graphics and more cars and tracks but in terms of the 'game' it has been left way behind and I don't believe it can redefine the driving genre a second time.

I'de like to be wrong but I have been stung twice now with dissapointing sequals (3 & 4) and don't want to waste my money or build my hopes up again.
