im looking at buying a gransport and just wanted some help as to what to look out for, what should i check i.e. how often should the clutch have been changed? How often should the service intervals be? etc and also can you give me a rough idea of running costs? all the things to look out for?

Very true!

It all depends on what you want.

If you want to join the masses get a Jag. If you want to join the elite, get a Masser! lol

Next time you are out and about, count how many Jags you spot, and how many Maserati's you spot.

You will be lucky to spot one Maserati!

Oh, and I am no where near 50!

I am about 20 years short of 50 mate!!!! You don't see that many new shape XKR's about, granted you see even less Massers; depends which one feels more connected as I will be changing up from an Elise and they don't come much more connected then that!!!

Dont think you can compare either with an elise.

Just picture yourself in a bar chatting up some hot bird, and she asks what car you drive, What answer sounds best?

A: I drive a Jag

B: I drive a Maserati

I had the same dilema, xkr or GS - the XKR is a very accomplished car, does everything well, the boot is bigger, quiet etc. The GS is fab though, loved it. Ended up with a perfect spec 06 which has been faultless smile The XKR was nice, I just decided I didn't play golf, was too young for one etc lol. Stereo typing I know but just one of the reasons I ended up with the massy & not regretted it one bit.

Drive em both though, you'll either love or loath the CC box - if you hate it, the XKR's auto with paddles will appeal. Horses for courses.

On the flip side, if you fancy an 06 GS I'm thinking about selling mine so pm me if you want a perfect, well loved & low milage one smile

I drive a Maserati a colleague has an XKR. I have hair he doesn't.
I'm the right side of 50, he isn't.

Mine looks better wink and doesn't brake any more often contrary to popular belief.

are you getting a Gransport, a Gallardo or an F430 - slightly different cars with slightly different costs and budgets?!?!?
