driving

All set for Race Pro and Forza 2 now... once I get Xbox Live setup.
I've added surround sound speakers and a nice sub just behind the seat

You need to get a cheap bucket seat and bolt that in!

Also, please take your fanboy ste elsewhere.

It's becoming quite tedious to be honest. Every singe thread in which there is even the slightest mention of an Xbox you are sure to come across this kind of crap.

Stop it.

This one! I got the plans on the interweb (can't take the credit I'm afraid) and then bought a couple of sheets of mdf and voilà. This was my first ever wood project since secondary school so if I can do it then anybody can really.

Not sure exactly of my costs, I'm guessing £30 for materials, maybe slightly more

What on earth, and who I might add, would he be able to play with a PS3?

OP, it does look a tad uncomfortable, are you bolting a seat in or just using cushions?

PLEASE STOP,

I don't mind friendly banter in the appropriate threads but not this one. I don't care which console you think is best, I have my xbox for race games and the ps3 for others.

I don't want this thread to get nasty frown

With regard to seats/padding, I considered a race seat but the shelf for the steering wheel would have to be higher so for now I have a therm-a-rest sleeping mat in the chair kit which is nice and comfortable, this also raises my legs a bit too high. So I intend to buy some self adhesive foam like you'd use on race motorbikes on the seat or to pad canoes/kayaks. There is plenty on ebay buy I'm trying to find a cheaper source.

In the mean time another photo including surround sound, subwoofer and padding:

Excuse the untidyness... I was more excited about playing games than tidying up!

Can you remember the site you got the plans from as I'd like to have a go at building one?

And that's where there might be a problem...

RaceSimCentral is currently being rebuilt (or something like that) so you can't get to the site itself.

The thing is, the plans are licensed to a guy who used to sell them. He wound up his business but is happy to send the plans to people who email him... the plans then have a watermark with each individuals name so they can't be sold on. This is stop other people selling the plans on as their own, which is understandable!

Not promising anything buy if you PM me then I might be able to point you in the right direction.

I love it !! Most people I know who have the wheel/pedals complain about not being able to find a suitable position etc, so great job. You fancy putting it into production?? lick

Can't mate, the design is already owned by somebody and I wouldn't be interested in doing it anyway.

BTW The original site is down but I've found another place

Linky

Just register and send the guy an email. He will then send you the plans.

When I did it I took a lot of time finding out where in the UK to buy the right nuts and bolts, I've found them all so if you're building one then let me know if you need the nuts and bolts.

If anyone else does decide to build one of these for themselves, I made an extra wide version (not because I'm chubby mind) just wanted space for a future Logitech G25 purchase. Mine is 100mm wider than the normal one in the plans.

Jealous. Unfortunatley my handywork for steering wheels and racing seats isn't as good.
For GT5 I've ended up bolting a steering wheel onto an old skateboard which is supported by an old keyobard stand. hehe

Works well enough though! driving
